Privacy Policy

What personal information we collect when you ask us for a quote, why we hold it, and the rights you have over it.

What we collect

We collect only what we need to price and carry out an inspection:

  • Enquiry details — your name, telephone number, email address, the property postcode and the property type or bedroom count you tell us about.
  • Inspection records — the address inspected, the circuits and equipment tested, the readings taken, the observations recorded and the outcome, together with the date and the identity of the electrician who signed the report.
  • Correspondence — messages you send us and our replies, including call notes where they matter to the job.
  • Technical data — your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, collected by our hosting and any analytics we run. See the Cookie Policy.

We do not ask for, and you should not send us, payment card details, bank details or any special category data such as health information.

Why we hold it, and on what basis

  • To answer your enquiry and give you a price — because you have asked us to, and because it is in our legitimate interest to respond to enquiries about our service.
  • To carry out the inspection and issue your certificate — performance of our contract with you.
  • To keep a copy of the report — our legal obligation, and yours: the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020 require a landlord to retain and supply the report, and a competent person is expected to be able to produce their own record of work signed off.
  • To handle complaints, insurance claims and disputes — our legitimate interest in defending our work, and compliance with our legal obligations.

We do not use your details for marketing unless you have separately agreed to it, and you can withdraw that agreement at any time.

Who we share it with

We share personal data only where it is necessary to do the job or where the law requires it:

  • the qualified electrician attending your property;
  • our IT suppliers — website hosting, email and form handling — who process data on our instructions only;
  • our insurers or professional advisers, where a claim or dispute makes it necessary;
  • a competent person scheme, local authority or court, where we are obliged to produce records.

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that do not become jobs — up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Inspection reports and job records — at least six years, reflecting the ordinary limitation period for contract claims and the five-year re-test cycle an EICR sits within.
  • Accounting records — six years, as required by HMRC.

Your rights

You have the right to be told what we hold, to get a copy of it, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have data erased where we no longer need it, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to receive data you gave us in a portable form. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it.

To exercise any of these, contact [DATA PROTECTION EMAIL]. We will respond within one month. Note that we cannot delete an inspection report while we are obliged to retain it, and we will explain if that applies.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you raised it with us first so we can put it right.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Access to enquiry and report data is limited to the people who need it to do the work. We review our suppliers’ security arrangements before we use them. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information by email.

Changes

If we change this notice materially we will update the date below and, where the change affects you directly, tell you.
